Thomas/Wright,
Inc. prepared the plans, specifications, and construction cost estimate
for the removal and replacement of 318,000 square feet of asphaltic
concrete pavement and 3,000 square feet of Portland concrete cement. A
pavement investigation plan was prepared to determine the extent of the
pavement wear.
The
NE Apron area is located on the northeast side of the airport and is
generally bordered by the perimeter access road on the north, the United
Air Cargo Facility on the South, existing hangars on the west, and the
Sheraton Hotel on the east. The eastern portion of the apron is used for
tug and dolly storage and the central and western portions are used for
staging of package/carrier planes. The main apron area was designed for
two B737 airplanes daily plus two B757's daily and one A330 weekly.
