Description

Thomas/Wright, Inc. is preparing the Request for Proposal Part 3 and Part 6 for a design build contract to repair and rehabilitate existing portions of Talega Canyon and Talega Ridge Roads and Deluz Canyon Road.

The Talega Canyon Roads are in the Northern Section of MCB Camp Pendleton. The work includes new gravel surfacing along 1.3 miles of Talega Canyon Road and approximately 4.4 miles of Talega Ridge Road. Two sections of Talega Canyon Road require repair by raising the roadbed with fill and armoring the edge of the road with riprap. Several sections of Talega Ridge Road require galvanized steel retaining walls and fill to maintain the 20-foot road width.

The Deluz Canyon Road serves the Eastern end of MCB Camp Pendleton. The work includes a new base rock section for the approximately 4.5 mile length of Deluz Canyon Road, minor road realignment, and riprap installation to control erosion from the floodplains of Deluz and Roblar Creeks. Five Arizona crossings (reinforced concrete structures which provide a low water crossing for vehicles along creeks) will be installed. Additional Arizona crossings were proposed for other areas of Deluz Road, however, T/WI designed armored concrete matting for these areas to facilitate ease of construction. These changes were completed within the fee and schedule for the project.

The project also includes an aerial survey and orthophotography of the project length.
