Thomas/Wright, Inc. was responsible for the topographic surveying and mapping of reaches of the Upper and Middle Fork John Day River for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. The Phase I surveys were for habitat improvement, dike removal, and large woody debris installation projects. Approximately 5.7 miles of riverbank and river bottom were surveyed. Phase I also included surveying water surface elevations, bridges, dike removal areas, flow structures, and diversion structures. Fifty-one cross sections were surveyed. The Phase II surveys were for habit improvement and large woody debris installation projects. Approximately 3.7 miles of riverbank and river bottom were surveyed. Phase II also included surveying water surface elevations and a bridge. Thirty-six cross sections were surveyed. Since Phase III involved the use of RTK GPS, T/WI subcontracted this work to David Evans and Associates, Inc. Approximately 17.6 miles of riverbank and river bottom were surveyed. Phase III also included surveying water surface elevations and taking measurements of five piezometers and four staff gages. Forty-three cross sections were surveyed. |
