Thomas/Wright,
Inc. has been retained by the U.S. Forest Service to design and build a
new heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system for their
ranger station at Zigzag, Oregon. The station is a 3,820 square foot
commercial office building heated with an oil fired boiler with a
circulating hot water system.
The
new system is a four zone heating and cooling system served by three heat
pumps. The building electrical supply will be upgraded to support a
supplemental heating element within the system. This will provide 100
percent of the heating requirement in the event of heat pump failure or
ambient temperature below the level of efficient operation of the heat
pumps.
