Dredging Inspectors for USACE, Portland District

In October 2006, Thomas/Wright, Inc. was awarded a contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District to provide dredging inspectors to USACE.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum 2 years experience working with the type of dredging being performed (hopper, pipeline, or clamshell).  Experience must include on-site quality assurance and/or quality control duties.

  2. Prior job experience that includes responsibility for safety on dredge operations.

  3. Ability to work in adverse conditions for extended periods of time which may include foul weather and rough sea conditions.

  4. If assigned to hopper dredging, must be able to live on board for extended periods of time (two to three weeks at a time).

  5. Familiarity with the Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual (EM 385-1-1).

  6. Successful completion within the last 5 years of the course “Construction Quality Management for Contractors” which is periodically offered by Associated General Contractors (AGC).

  7. A minimum of 30 hours of safety training related to dredging within the past two years.

  8. Current first aid and CPR certifications.
